Last night Cavendish won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.
He received almost half of the 342,000 total votes.
"This award is a landmark for cycling," he said at the annual BBC awards
ceremony, now held in Salford. "For cycling to be recognised in a
non-Olympic year is unheard of.
