thw WKK Project

I don't remember how this popped up but it's an interesting idea.
WKK is a Japanese tattoo artist currently living in Hawaii - nice.

She too has started incorporating her love of cycling into her artwork and has started creating cycling paintings and painting onto components themselves.
This is the start of the WKK Project.
I love the acrylic paintings of the birds etc and how WKK is finding ways to incorporate the brush strokes and shapes of these onto components.

Visit the WKK Project site and also her tattoo and shop sites too:

Custom Trike

So I am a huge fan of baby wearing - yep I carry Molly everywhere, I think she has been pushed in a stroller about twice in her 2 weeks shy of a year. But this may just convince me we need to buy one after all.

Kid Kustoms sell retro strollers inspired by cars bikes and UFO's of the '50s and now they sell a conversion kit that transforms the stroller into a trike once it has been outgrown. Sweet ride kid!

NAHBS 2009

I can't add much to anything that hasn't already been said on other great blogs such as Urban Velo, Momentum, Cyclingnews, PEZ, Cycleicious and the NAHBS itself.

Here are a couple of photos I took of some sweet rides I liked, some overlooked art submitted by local schoolchildren and one of the nicest bike caps (Cielo) I have ever bought being modelled by my wife Sarah and daughter Molly.
Also big 'Hi' to the folks at Zullo bikes - more to come on that.

The cycling is at 2:50 - seriously.
Other than that what an amazing piece of work.
And speaking of work, the female performer should get a medal - must have been so hard but also so much fun?

DAVE GORMAN: SIT DOWN, PEDAL, PEDAL, STOP AND STAND UP

Are you Dave Gorman?

You may be the same British comedian who sometimes relaxes his guard and finds himself the stupidest of dares. For example, 'Are you Dave Gorman', that's right he travelled the world to meet people called Dave Gorman and has a graph of mpDG (miles per Dave Gorman) that will prove it. Then he also agreed to meet the origins of as many Googlewhacks as possible before New Year's Day. A Googlewhack is two words which when entered into Google Search return only one webpage - he then visited the owner of that page, they would find another Googlewhack and off he went. Two super shows and books I thoroughly recommend.

He opened his big mouth again.....
The thing is, it wasn't just the gigs I was enjoying. When I started, I'd take the tube, using the journey to give me time to look through my notebook and compose some thoughts. Then I started to get looser and stopped needing that much preparation so I started cycling to gigs instead because I prefer it to the tube.

I found cycling to gigs made me very happy. I'm not sure I can explain it properly, but cycling changed my attitude to the gigs. Suddenly it was all a bit lo-fi, hippie minstrel and - without changing what I was doing on stage particularly - that made things even more satisfying to me. It was like doing something but leaving no mark. That sounds a bit eco-warrior but that's not really what I mean.

Anyway, I was cycling home one night at around midnight, full of happiness, loving the feeling of being connected to the city I call home and everything about what I was doing made sense. It just seemed to be a perfect kind of existence. And I started thinking that a daily bike ride/gig combination would be enjoyable.

I made the mistake of saying it out loud the next day. And this is the result. A tour. Of the UK. By bike.
