Brooklyn Museum of (Bicycle) Art

My very lovely and very pregnant wife (any day now) and I wandered around the Brooklyn Museum of Art yesterday. Whilst Sarah watched Judy Chicago describe each place setting at 'The Dinner Party', a great piece of art but I am not one for having the art explained to me, I explored the painting floor. This was the first painting to grab my attention - something about the graphic style and sense of power in the waterfall....

In the next room I this image caught my eye, initially the painting itself and then I saw it - not even hiding really - there in plain sight. This is a bicycle painting!

In fact the Brooklyn Museum of Art contains many of the glorious machines - here are a couple more I managed to capture.

This latter image 'Bicycle Boy Trade Sign' was made by Louis Simon around 1932.It hung outside of his bicycle and motorcycle shop in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY. A bulb inside the head shone out of it's marble eyes and a small motor caused the boy to pedal!! Lovely.
